We’ve heard that spring will be here almost overnight, so we’re excited about that – but it’s Canada, so don’t put your needles down just yet!
Luckily, here on the coast, wool is a year-round fibre. At a Vancouver Island late-night beach fire, nothing comes in handier than a shawl. And if you knit it in wool, it’s so easy to get the smoke smell out.
Speaking of caring for knitwear, check out our selection of items to pamper your handknits. We’ve got T-pins, Eucalan delicates wash and Eucalan refills, and Sweater Stones: a sustainable and eco-friendly way to keep your merino looking smooth. Next time you’re in the shop, ask us for a copy of our Woollen Manual: it’s like having your auntie standing in your laundry room with an apron on, telling you how to do everything right.
The studio is bustling at the moment, with lots of mouth-watering things coming in every week. We know your heart belongs to Malabrigo, so you’ll be happy to hear that we received new Rios colours today! Andrea Mowry’s Nightshift is still gaining momentum, so don’t wait too long to come in and grab some Rios or Merino Worsted. If you’re working from your stash this season, SweetGeorgia colours are a great addition to a mixed palette, for a funky, eclectic shawl. That one ribbon of saturated colour adds a dash of yum to anything.
If you love Laine Magazine, you'll be happy to know that we have a few copies of Issue 7 still in stock. The only thing we don't love about Laine is trying to decide which project to cast on first. (The Calla shawl in SweetGeorgia Superwash DK, anyone?)
The next Knit Social & Pop-Up Shop is this coming Monday, March 4 at 7pm: join us at Sybil Andrews’ Cottage for a couple of hours of stitching and sassing. If you’re in one of our classes, bring your work in progress so we can be very jealous of you, you clever thing! If you’re stuck, bring it so we can help you fix it. And as always, if you want us to include something specific in our pop-up shop for that night, shoot us an email and we'll be happy to oblige.
Lastly, we’ll be in the studio four Saturdays in March, so you don’t have to call work and fake a sore throat on Thursday mornings. (You know who you are.) See you on the 2nd, 9th, 23rd or 30th!
