If you’re a knitter, you’re a giver. During the last few months of the year, you probably spend hundreds of hours -- and all your skill -- creating for those you love. Small, last-minute sweets are cast on in those few weeks leading up to the holiday, when free patterns abound for ‘thick and quick’. When the last mug cozy, or wristwarmer, or sock is bound off in late December, we all breathe a little easier.
For us knitters, January is a time of rest and recuperation. It’s time to give your hands a break and browse some patterns…time to think about you! What do you want to knit for yourself in 2018?
Now that we’ve relaxed a bit, we’re thinking about sweaters…and judging from our recent studio days, so are our guests. A lot of local knitters have cast on sweaters so far in 2018, and they are all excited to be working on something meant to warm their *own* hearts. This season we encourage you to give yourself some time...give yourself love for Valentine’s, and a fresh start as we head into Spring.
Thank you to all the guests who joined us at Sybil Andrews in February! The cottage was a hive of activity for a few hours last Monday, as nearly 20 knitters shared creative space with 8 art journalists, and 6 mixed media artists. It was truly a celebration of community arts. The next Knit Social will be March 5 at 6:30pm.
Friends, the light will last a little longer every month – before we know it, we’ll be taking our chairs out onto the lawn to enjoy the ocean.
